FAQ

Questions, answered.

The short version of how our cloud, datacenter, and network services work. Don’t see your question? Ask an engineer.

Cloud & VMs

How fast can I get a virtual machine?

Once you pick your specs and OS, your VM provisions automatically on our cluster and is typically live in under a minute. No sales call required.

What do VMs cost?

Plans start at $10/mo (1 vCPU · 2 GB · 40 GB), $20/mo (2 vCPU · 4 GB · 80 GB), and $40/mo (4 vCPU · 8 GB · 160 GB), all on NVMe-backed Ceph storage. A routable public IPv4 is +$3/mo. Need something bigger or custom? We’ll quote it.

Which operating systems can I run?

Ubuntu (22.04 / 24.04), Debian 12, Rocky 9, and AlmaLinux 9 — plus desktop images if you want a graphical environment. You get full root access.

Do I get console access and control?

Yes. Every VM includes full root plus a browser-based (noVNC) console, so you can reboot, rebuild, and manage it yourself — no ticket required.

Are backups included?

VMs are backed up nightly using an enterprise backup server. For a full offsite backup and disaster-recovery plan across your other systems, see Offsite Backup & DR.

Where do my VMs actually run?

In our own datacenter, on our own network and ARIN-allocated IP space — not a reseller’s. VMs sit on Ceph storage with live-migration high availability, so they’re never trapped on a single box.

Colocation & datacenter

How much space can I colocate?

Anything from a single U to a full rack, with power, cooling, and bandwidth. See Colocation for details.

Do you offer remote hands?

Yes. Our engineers can rack, cable, reboot, swap media, and troubleshoot your gear so you don’t have to drive to the datacenter.

Can I get IP transit and my own IP space?

Yes. We carry transit from multiple upstreams and can provide IP space and BGP/routing help. See Bandwidth & Transit.

Managed IT & backup

What does Managed IT cover?

Monitoring, patching, helpdesk, and security — your remote IT department, handled by engineers rather than a call-center script. See Managed IT.

Can you back up servers that aren’t hosted with you?

Yes. We back up physical and virtual servers, file shares, databases, and application data from your office or rack — held offsite in our datacenter and tested for real recovery.

Billing & support

How does billing work?

Cloud VMs are billed monthly via PayPal. Colocation, bandwidth, managed IT, backup, and network work are quoted to your needs. No long-term lock-in.

How do I reach support?

Call 937-668-7139 or email support@king-networks.com. You’ll reach real engineers who understand your setup and can act on it.

Internet & TV

Do you still provide internet service?

Yes. We still connect homes and businesses across western Ohio with wireless internet, plus TV and streaming. See Rural internet, Business internet, and TV & streaming.
